Thanks for indulging me...OCT 25, 2007

Last Night was not a night for Amateurs....He took the stage at 9:30 a bit early.... the first set featured a couple spirituals and a lot of preaching. Drunken Obnoxious 40 something bar whore saw to it that Glenn would be distracted and agitated the entire time......she had him so off his game that he Responded to almost every random noise in the bar I could tell it would be a long night...

2nd set---Both Laz and TZ had arrived on the scene at staggered intervals each time they arrived Glenn played a little something for them it seemed... the set featured Brief flashes of brilliance throughout but those flashes were a precursor of what was to come....However the set was tainted as Glenn was distracted off and on throughout

Glenn also let it be known that he would stop playing if anyone said anything and he did on several occasions, stop to chastise the crowd....... but as the crowd thinned and the Drunken shouting lady left, Glenn started to pick up steam.....The set included a Glenn and Mama Schwartz duet that was truly a surreal scene...Glenn called her up to sing with him and she complied, but was obviously chagrined by it. Then Glenn went on to say "now there's a good women, she knows how to dress, she reads her Bible, but she still talks back to much and she needs to learn to shut up" --very amusing-- Highlights were a powerful version of Motor City(laz's fav) featuring some strumming techniques I have never seen anyone else do so adroitly... and a hard version of Chicago that featured a very truncated ending, much to Glenn's amusement

3rd set--Only the patient reaped this reward, I had only seen him do a third set once before and it started at about 11:15 or so... it opened with My Poor Generation--I dont recall having ever heard him play this, I know of it of course from TZ and Laz, but had never heard it done live. Its incredible.... Apparently Laz was helping him to remember the words in between sets and thank god he did, cause that may be the best thing I have ever seen done...so beautiful....The rest of the set was absolutely blistering with crescendos reaching the heavens and a triumphant clarity of playing not often seen at his shows....

One last thing so cool.... toward the end as about 30 people huddled in very very close to "Young Glenn" and watched slacked-jawed at the licks this man was throwing down...just flat sick.......I left smiling my patience completely rewarded..................Until next week....
